Telekom helps Ukraine: telephony and text messages are now free of charge

Deutsche Telekom reacts to the war of aggression in Ukraine. German customers can now call and send text messages to Ukraine free of charge. This applies to both fixed and mobile networks. Congstar customers are also not charged for calls and short messages.

Telekom: No cost for calls to Ukraine

Due to the dramatic situation in Ukraine Deutsche Telekom is temporarily waiving fees. Customers calling Ukraine from Telekom’s German landline or mobile network can now do so free of charge. There are also no charges for SMS. Roaming within Ukraine is also to be provided free of charge “until further notice”, as the announcement states.

According to Telekom, the offer applies to both private customers and business customers of the group. Who not at Telekom directly, but via the subsidiary Congstar calls and texts to the Ukraine are also not asked to pay (source: Deutsche Telekom on Twitter).

Telekom: Concern about development center in Russia

Telkom has no employees in Ukraine and according to their own information, “no supply relationships” exist. According to Deutsche Telekom CFO Christian Illek, payment and supply should be ensured through immediate measures.
