Telekom phishing: Dangerous voice message waiting to be called up

A particularly unusual phishing email is currently circulating, which is said to have come from Telekom. The message with the subject “➁ New Voice Messages” plays with your curiosity and ultimately only serves to get your personal data.

The said email tells you that you should have received a 58 second voice message on June 12th. Supposedly it was stored on your voicemail and an attached link takes you to it. However, this is a cheap trick, as reported by the consumer advice center. The voice message does not exist and the link leads to a fake Telekom website.

All data that you enter there can be used against you by the cybercriminals behind the scam or sold on the Darknet. It is also possible that a virus is hidden behind the link.

You can recognize the phishing mail by the sender address and the alternation between formal and informal salutations in the text. So don’t let your curiosity get the best of you and don’t click on the link, instead put the message in the spam folder without replying.
