Télématin: why the show was disrupted this Christmas weekend

This Christmas weekend, the France 2 antenna was disrupted by the Covid-19 epidemic. Indeed, the morning news could not be provided, for lack of staff contaminated by the virus. The channel therefore decided to broadcast the newspapers of France Info, in order to preserve the info grid.

The Covid-19 epidemic is breaking records in France and is appearing in the Info channels. While the number of contaminations exceeded the mark of 100,000 cases per day this Saturday, December 25, some media have been strongly impacted by the virus. This is particularly the case of the group France Televisions which had to review its antenna for the Christmas weekend, as revealed by journalist Myriam Bounafaa.

Antenna impacted by the covid which also affects the staff of France Televisions. France Info and Télématin go hand in hand to preserve the info grid. Thank you Élodie Largenton who provides news on both channels “, wrote the France Info presenter on Twitter.

News broadcasts simultaneously on France Info and France 2

In fact, at each start of a section, Telematin usually broadcasts its own news presented by Estelle Colin, outside of holiday periods. But this Saturday, December 25, viewers discovered that the duo composed of Damien Thévenot and Johanna Ghiglia did not launch the France 2 newspaper, but the one broadcast simultaneously on France Info, provided by journalist Élodie Largenton. It would therefore seem that France TV suffered the full brunt of the epidemic wave and that the channel lacked the arms to take care of the recall of information. Fortunately, this did not have a negative impact on the morning, which was able to take place without a hitch. France 2 even did better than last year because 415,000 French people gathered on average from 6.30 am to 9.25 am this Saturday, December 25 (23% market share), against 412,000 curious in 2020 (21.2%).
