Television “The island of 30 coffins” with Virginie Ledoyen: a breathtaking thriller adapted from the novel for France 2

What we think

In the complex plot, we recognize the paw of Maurice Leblanc, which we can be sure will surprise us until the end. As often in detective or thriller series, you have to wait several episodes before being really held in suspense by the plot. To the first mystery, that of the stillborn baby, are added many other intertwined cases.

The fact that the story was projected a century into the future, since the novel was set in 1917, gives the impression of anachronism. As the islanders carry out their own justice, as if cut off from the police and the laws of the mainland, the presence of cellphones and the internet speaks volumes. Apart from these details which give the feeling that the characters have remained stuck at the time of Maurice Leblanc, this new adaptation brought up to date is successful.

Note however that the series is not appropriate to be watched by children, some scenes are violent.
