Telia: a 5G frequency won in Lithuania

(CercleFinance.com) – Telia has emerged victorious from an auction process which concerned the granting of a 5G telephony frequency in Lithuania, the Scandinavian telecom operator announced on Monday.

In a press release, the group indicates that it has paid 23 million euros to obtain a 700 MHz radio frequency covering most of the country.

Taking into account the auction costs of seven million euros, the total amount of the invoice amounts to 30 million euros.

Telia, which recalls having already installed a thousand base stations ready for 5G in Lithuania, says it is ready to launch its fifth generation services as soon as the necessary authorizations have been received.

The operator had already launched 5G services in the capital of Vilnius earlier this year from its existing frequency of 2100 MHz.
