Temperatures rise up to 40 degrees: are employees now entitled to a heat break?


For Tuesday, the German weather service expects temperatures above 35 degrees, in the west up to 40 degrees. The Verdi union had also called for relief for employees.

“In extreme heat, we naturally demand longer breaks or an earlier end of work – heat-free – even if there is no legal entitlement to this,” said Norbert Reuter, head of the collective bargaining policy department at Verdi, the RND.
