Ten travelers injured – flight to Lisbon continues anyway

A TAAG Angola Airlines flight to Lisbon experiences severe turbulence immediately after take-off. Ten travelers are injured. A flight attendant broke his leg. Nevertheless, the crew continues the flight.

Hi Fly’s Airbus A330 had just taken off on behalf of TAAG Angola Airlines on Thursday. Cabin crew were performing the first meal service when the plane was caught in a storm over the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was so violent that the severe turbulence caused everything that wasn’t secured to be thrown through the cabin – people were also injured.

A flight attendant broke his leg, according to The New Journal. Another member of the cabin crew and seven passengers were also injured. As a result, some had to go to the hospital. But it took another seven hours before they could do that.

Flight to Lisbon is continued

Because the crew decided to continue the flight to Lisbon. At 20:37, the jet landed in Lisbon, where ambulances were waiting for him. According to a statement by TAAG, first aid had already been given during the flight. The crew member with the broken leg was treated by medical professionals on board.

Photos on social media show objects lying around the cabin. The ceiling paneling is cracked and liquid can be seen on the ceiling, which appears to have gotten there from beverage containers.

According to TAAG, the turbulence was due to poor weather conditions in the region. Another flight on Friday was canceled due to the same poor conditions.
