Alexander Zverev has responded to allegations of physical harm made against him for the first time. He clearly denies the allegations.
Tennis star Alexander Zverev (26) is currently facing allegations of physical harm. At the tennis tournament in Hamburg’s Rothenbaum, in which Zverev takes part, the 26-year-old publicly commented on the allegations for the first time. “I completely reject the allegations. My lawyers are taking care of the matter. I will not say more about it,” Zverev explained according to “Hamburger Abendblatt” during a press event on Monday (July 24).

On July 7, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office applied to the Tiergarten District Court for a penal order to be issued against tennis professional Zverev, as the court confirmed to the news agency spot on news. He is charged with assault. The court did not provide any further details on the allegations. The alleged injured party is said to be an ex-partner of the tennis player and Olympic champion.
“The court now has to decide on the basis of the file situation whether it affirms sufficient suspicion and shares the public prosecutor’s assessment of the legal assessment and the amount of the penalty requested,” the court said in a statement. If the court should issue the penalty order, Zverev or his defense will have two weeks after formal service to lodge an objection. He is currently presumed innocent until a final conviction.
