Tens of thousands in Hamburg
Anti-war protests continue

The rejection of the Russian war of aggression drives masses of people onto the streets. There are also several demonstrations across Germany today. In Hamburg alone, tens of thousands are showing solidarity with the Ukraine.
In many German cities, people took to the streets again to demonstrate against the war and for peace in Ukraine. In Hamburg demonstrators marched through the city center to show solidarity with the country. Among them were people of different generations, including children and families. Many had Ukraine and EU flags with them.
Posters read slogans like “Stop Putin stop war” or “Make peace”. According to the police, up to 30,000 people attended the opening rally, and around 22,000 people took part in the subsequent procession through the city center. The Ukrainian diaspora as well as the youth organizations of several political parties and the climate protection movement Fridays for Future called for the action. The police said there were no incidents up to the end of the rally.
Protests in several cities
In Munich According to the police, around 2,000 people with a human chain from the Ukrainian to the Russian consulate demanded an end to the war. Some demo participants demanded that Russian President Vladimir Putin have to answer before the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
In Osnabruck numerous people set a sign against the war in Ukraine with prayers for peace and a demonstration. In Dusseldorf started a demonstration under the motto “Together against Russian aggression”. A peace march through the city center was planned for the afternoon. Demonstrations against the Russian attack on Ukraine had already taken place in many places throughout Germany in the past few days.
There are also international protests against the war. In Rome tens of thousands of people demonstrated. People carried a huge colorful peace flag through the center of the Italian capital. According to the police, an estimated 25,000 people came to the rally in Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano. At times, a total of up to 40,000 were on the road. The organizers of the network for peace and disarmament called for a ceasefire in Ukraine in their online call. Numerous associations and trade unions took part in the peace demonstration.
