The Pixel 7 Pro reveals itself a little more through a leak that tells us a little more about its SoC and its screen.

To get ahead of leaks, Google decided this year to formalize its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro earlier than expected. But apart from their design, we ultimately know very little about the next generation of smartphones from the American group.

A CPU without surprise

Fortunately, for the most impatient, Google is still not very effective in avoiding leaks, as evidenced by the sale on eBay of a prototype of Pixel 7 five months before its release. This time it’s a Pixel 7 Pro that would have landed in the wild, revealing some information about the upcoming mobile from the terminal’s boot logs.

Google has teased a second-generation Tensor SoC, but don’t expect this chip to significantly outperform its predecessor. The integrated CPU will consist of eight cores, including four low-power Cortex-A55 to handle light tasks that are already found on the Pixel 6 Tensor.

The middle two cores would remain Cortex-A76s, and the two high-performance cores would be Cortex-X1s.

A new screen, but for what developments?

If this information does not indicate a performance increase for this new chip, we can still hope that optimizations, clock frequency adjustments or a different burning technique will still make it possible to obtain a faster processor. The leak does not give details about the SoC’s GPU.

However, it indicates that the Pixel 7 Pro will be equipped with a Samsung S6E3HC4 reference panel. It’s likely not much different from the Samsung S6E3HC3 screen on last year’s Pixel 6 Pro, but we can still hope for slight improvements.

The Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7 are expected to go on sale sometime in October 2022. We will then be able to experience the capabilities of these new smartphones, as Google significantly increased its sales volume in the first quarter of 2022 in Europe.
