Territorial elections 2022: in Saint-Martin, five lists out of six in the second round

They were six candidates in the running in Saint-Martin for the first round of the territorial elections. Five of them obtained more than 10% of the votes and will thus be able to present themselves in the second round.

Louis Mussington (Rassemblement Saint-Martinois) came first in this first round (24.37%). He collected 2128 votes, while Daniel Gibbs (Team Gibbs 2022), the outgoing president, obtained 2074. Only 54 votes therefore separate the two lists. The two men, each close to 25% of the vote, will however have to wait for the minutes which will refine the official figures.

On the third step of the podium, we find Generation Hope 2022 by Jules Charville with just under 17% of the vote (1465 votes). The surprise came from Jacques Hamlet from the Saint-Martin list with you. The radio host ranks fourth with 1155 votes and 13.23% of voting intentions. The only female candidate in the election, Valérie Damaseau won 934 votes, or 11.14%. She may also be present in the second round.

The only candidate who failed to collect 10% of the votes is Yawo Nyuiadzi, of Avenir Saint-Martin, and he will therefore be absent from the second round.

Note all the same a strong abstention for a territorial election. Participation is 45% for this first round. Only 8,732 voters voted out of the 18,961 registered. The second round will take place next Sunday, March 27.
