And he complained to judge Magdalena Klestil-Krausam about his suffering: his son had moved his television and taken away his documents. His wife taught him to pour a bowl of cold water over his head and put his favorite dog to sleep. “If I had gotten a home, I would have moved out anyway,” says the 86-year-old, describing his plans to leave the terraced house they share. And his neighbor also said in the witness stand: “The poor man was just scolded by his family. He’s just worked his whole life.”
