The attack was bloody. On October 7, 1,400 people were killed by Hamas terrorists in communities not far from the Gaza Strip. Men and women, children and old people, the terrorists made no distinction in their massacre. In response, Israel relentlessly bombs the Palestinian enclave, claiming to want to destroy the Islamic movement. Almost 10,000 Gazans, the majority civilians, have lost their lives since the start of the conflict.
“It is obvious”
Enough to arouse emotion in Arab countries, but also in the West, where demonstrations in support of the Palestinian people are increasing. But the appearance of flags that could be affiliated with Al-Qaeda or even the Taliban, in certain demonstrations, makes the authorities fear the worst. In France, the number of anti-Semitic acts is exploding, while terrorism resurfaced a few weeks ago in a high school in Arras, where a teacher was killed by a radicalized former student of the establishment.
Invited this Sunday to the microphone of Europe 1/ CNews/ Les Echos, lawyer Thibault de Montbrial believes that there will be other attacks in France in the coming months. “It’s obvious,” he judges. “First, Islamist terrorist attacks in France have never stopped. We have gone from commando attacks to endogenous attacks with individuals who claim to be jihadist propaganda,” he explains.
Silence on the 39 French people who died during the attack
“Already, before the tragic events of October in Israel, we knew that since the spring, structured commandos have infiltrated Europe (…), perhaps with a view to the Olympics But the abomination committed by Hamas “October 7 in Israel is what we call a game changer,” adds the president of the Center for Internal Security, judging that this attack had opened a box that will be very difficult to close.
“It disinhibited, as we saw, the words, the calls for murder, etc. And the words always precede the actions,” believes the lawyer. The latter regrets that the death of 39 French people on October 7 did not provoke the slightest emotion in France. “We have the impression that it doesn’t exist. Why? Because many people are paralyzed by the idea of saying it, because they are aware of the enormity of the wave that is rising in Europe and in particular in France. And this wave, we must be ready and determined to face it and we must start by accepting to see it coming,” he concludes.
