Tesla announces three new mystery models

During the Cyber Roundup, the annual meeting of Tesla shareholders which was held a few days ago, Elon Musk and his teams took stock (particularly financial) of the past year and made projections in the field of products.

The American manufacturer has thus unveiled an image showing the future range. We can see three veiled models, of which only the silhouettes provide some information. However, given the many previous announcements, it is possible to imagine which vehicles these will be.

Clear ideas…

As is often the case with Elon Musk and Tesla, we must be wary of declarations, which aim above all to give investors confidence. A confidence that Tesla is currently lacking, particularly due to significant waves of layoffs.

However, the Cybertuck has finally arrived and the models announced last week could do the same, this year or later. The CEO of Tesla said that “obviously we are working behind the scenes on new products” and that they should stand out from the crowd.

I think it’s going to be pretty special. I think at first people might think, oh, it’s not going to be that amazing, but wait, it will be.

Elon Musk.

Previously, the Palo Alto company had mentioned a van, the Roadster and the upcoming Robotaxi. It could be the three models on the slide, especially if we take into account the little sentence at the top left which gives, translated into French: “The world must replace automobile fleets with electric vehicles“.

This could mean that Tesla is targeting delivery vans as well as short-distance shuttles (taxis), two segments in which the manufacturer is not yet present.

The first of the two, which fans already nickname the “Cybervan”, would be the model at the bottom left of the image, with its very square shape. Tesla has hinted in previous presentations that it is interested in the commercial or passenger van sector.

The Robotaxi, for its part, was promised for August 8 by Elon Musk, but we don’t know if we will see a concept or a production version on that date. However, Tesla often remains very close, in terms of design, to concept cars. The technical specifications are much more subject to modification.

Tesla discussed its autonomous carpooling service last month and promised, on this occasion, that its autonomous taxi would have no steering wheel or pedals.

…and a slight doubt

For the third model, a slight doubt remains. It could be the Roadster, which its fairly low build tends to confirm, or the famous Tesla 2 for less than €25,000.

One of the three models could well be the famous Tesla Roadster.

The case of the latter is pending: rumors have announced the cessation of investments in this direction in favor of the Robotaxi, while the company has confirmed that such a model will arrive in production… one day. Above all, this model should be less profiled than what the image suggests.

The Roadster hypothesis is more credible. The model, supposed to be one of the fastest in the world, stands out above all for its significant delay. Initially announced in 2017 and planned for 2020, the vehicle should, according to an announcement from Musk, arrive before the end of the year. However, it would be surprising if the model was veiled when it has already been presented in the past.
