As is the case every three months, Tesla on Sunday announced its delivery and production figures for the third quarter, reporting 343,000 total deliveries and 365,000 vehicles built.
After delivering more than 305,000 vehicles in the first quarter of the year and then “only 254,695 in the second, Tesla finally thwarted the decline by announcing yesterday the delivery of 343,830 vehicles in the third quarter of 2022. The US automaker said it produced 19,935 and delivered 18,672 Model S and X vehicles. Additionally, it produced 345,988 Model 3 and Y cars and delivered 325,158.
This is therefore slightly less than what experts predicted, but it is still enough to set a new delivery record for Elon Musk’s company. Analysts had forecast nearly 358,000 vehicles would be shippedaccording to the average of estimates compiled by Bloomberg,
Tesla will exceed one million vehicles delivered this year.
Thanks to this new delivery record, the company has now delivered 908,573 vehicles since the beginning of the year, but it will have to end the year on a high note to reach its annual sales growth forecast of 50% for the next few years. This year, Elon Musk’s company will therefore easily exceed one million vehicles deliveredand could well then reach the two million mark next year.
As a reminder, in 2021, Tesla was not very far from the million. The company had announced that it had sold a total of 936,172 vehicles, which remains more than any of its competitors in the electric market.
In July, sales of Chinese-built Teslas fell 64% from the previous month due to an ambitious upgrade of the company’s Shanghai factory, according to CNN. The production shutdown came as the company began to recover from a months-long lockdown of the city due to the Covid pandemic, which had disrupted production and supplies. Now that Tesla can count on its new Gigafactory in Austin and Berlin, we imagine that the number of Tesla shipments will soar in the coming quarters.
