The boss of Tesla has just announced a major new investment. It is its network of electric charging stations which will benefit.
Among the major suppliers of charging stations dedicated to electric vehicles, we obviously find Tesla. The world number 1 in the sector continues to develop its network of charging stations, called superchargers, most recently launching an annual subscription in France. And Tesla is not stopping there in the field, since an extremely significant investment will still be made this year, according to its boss.
An investment of 500 million euros planned
When you have Elon Musk as your boss, it happens that important announcements from the company in which you work are simply made in an innocuous post on be put online on the platform.
“ Tesla to spend more than $500 million to expand its Supercharger network and create thousands of new chargers this year » he said on the social network on Friday May 10.
Money reserved for new stations
The richest man in the world also specified in the same message that this investment will only concern the creation of new stations. “ This figure only concerns new sites and expansions, not including operating costs, which are much higher » specifies the boss of Tesla.
A communication which should not be unrelated to the announcement made last month of the imminent layoff of 10% of Tesla’s workforce (i.e. more than 14,000 people). Elon Musk must therefore want to show that the reduction in workforce is in no way a manifestation of a decline in the company’s ambitions. Currently, Tesla has a total of more than 50,000 Superchargers around the world, located at approximately 6,000 stations.
