Tesla is no longer the undisputed master of energy efficiency in electric cars

Tesla has just lost its place at the top of the ranking of electric cars with the best energy efficiency. Indeed, this title now goes to the Ioniq 6 from Hyundai, followed directly by the Kona. Competition is getting tougher in the industry.

For a long time, Tesla was a real pioneer in the world of electric cars. Whether in terms of innovation, autonomy or energy efficiency, the manufacturer has repeatedly won first place. But, in this last area, it seems that the brand has finally lost its throne. This is according to the latest study published by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, or ADAC, one of the largest associations of motorists in Europe.

However, according to the ADAC, Tesla is now relayed to the last step of the podium in terms of energy efficiency. The first place, meanwhile, goes to Hyundai, more precisely to its Ioniq 6. Stronger still, the manufacturer also takes second place, this time with the electric Kona. The two cars have an average consumption of 15.5 kWh over 100 km and 16.87 kWh over 100 km respectively. The Model 3 comes just behind with its consumption of 16.8 kWh over 100 km.

The Ioniq 5 dethrones the Model 3 on the energy efficiency podium

To achieve this impressive performance, Hyundai has bet on an 800V architecture for its Ioniq 6, coupled with a nice 77 KW battery. This technical sheet is already very promising in itself, but it is nothing without the star of the show: the design of the vehicle, which allows it to display a ridiculous drag coefficient of 0.21. Along with the Porsche Taycan, the Ioniq 6 is a real benchmark in the field.

You only have to try it to realize it. In our test, its very reasonable consumption quickly became one of its greatest strengths. At a time when many motorists are worried about seeing their electricity bill increase, Hyunday could well hold there a key selling point against the Mastodonde Tesla, which continues to monopolize the rankings of the best sales in France for months .
