Elon Musk and Tesla keep their word: After the first ten supercharger charging stations that were opened in the Netherlands for e-cars from other manufacturers, things are happily continuing. However, German e-car drivers still have to be patient.
Tesla opens more superchargers for e-cars from other brands
The former rumor has long since become truth: Tesla opens the supercharger network for electric cars from other brands and manufacturers. At least in part, the schedule was adhered to, the first ten test locations started in November 2021 in the Netherlands, also for non-Teslas.
In the meantime, Tesla has followed suit: too in Norway and France you unlocked some superchargers for more electric cars. This was announced via the official Tesla Supercharger Twitter account:
In Europe there are now additional locations around 40 superchargers, which can no longer only charge Tesla. If you are looking, you can display them in the Tesla app or search specifically for the charging stations that have already been approved on Tesla’s website (see Tesla).
Better conditions for Tesla drivers: Other e-cars finance Tesla expansion
For Tesla, opening up is part of the company’s mission to spread electromobility further. If you want to charge your non-brand e-car with the Tesla Supercharger, you need the Tesla app, version 4.2.3 or higher. There are no fixed prices however, the current prices are displayed in the app before charging begins.
If you don’t drive a Tesla, you have to pay extra. Tesla drivers charge cheaper. The surcharge for third-party brands is justified with additional effort. There are also blocking fees for drivers who occupy charging stations for too long – regardless of the model. Tesla drivers also have the right to pre-condition the battery, so that the Supercharger has optimized conditions for fast charging.

It is not yet clear when German e-car drivers from other brands will also be able to test the superchargers at home. However, Tesla informs that drivers from other countries can also use the approved superchargers. In addition to the three test countries, this also applies to e-car drivers from Germany and Belgium. So nothing stands in the way of a supercharger test holiday from Tesla’s side. They are also working on more power and additional equipment for the charging stations.
