The automaker is launching an accessory that Apple fans have been waiting for for several months.

Tesla loves to launch small accessories from time to time, more or less disconnected from its main activity, such as portable batteries, but also mugs or clothing, and still demonstrates it today.

Put down three devices, they will immediately charge to a maximum of 15W

The American manufacturer has therefore just presented its wireless charging station. The latter comes in the form of a black rectangle and covered with a non-slip coating in Alcantara. Tesla also provides a magnetic support, which makes it possible to raise the station and facilitate the grip of the devices placed there.

For charging, the brand indicates that it is possible to place up to three devices simultaneously, regardless of their position. Unlike many stations, the locations for each are not marked out. All you have to do is place your phone or your wireless headphones anywhere.

The charging station is capable of providing 15W power for each device. Tesla did not design the technology in-house and used a platform called FreePower, designed by start-up Aira. The latter offers its solutions to various manufacturers, such as the automotive industry to provide wireless charging in cars, or in business.

Tesla resurrects the AirPower, one of Apple’s recent bitter failures

If you follow Apple news closely, you will probably think that this new Tesla product looks a lot like the AirPower. For others, AirPower is the name of a charging station developed by Apple over many months. The product even appeared in the iPhone X presentation video in 2017.

The principle of the accessory was similar to that of Tesla today: being able to simultaneously charge three wireless devices, such as an iPhone, AirPods and an Apple Watch without worrying about placing them correctly on the support.

Apple never managed to finalize its design and canceled it after several months, on the sly. The manufacturer never mentioned the subject publicly, but he would never have succeeded in solving the problems of heat produced by the various charging coils when several devices were placed on them.

Apparently, Tesla and Aira have managed to find the trick to generate enough power while mastering the heat of the accessory. To offer you this station, you will still have to pay the price. The object is sold by Tesla on its official website at a price of 300 dollars and is currently only available on the American market.
