Tesla lowers prices on Model 3, but also on Model S and X

There is another change in the prices displayed on the Tesla configurator. Tesla is lowering prices on the Model 3, but it’s not the only model to lose €2,000 to €3,000.

It’s not just about price changes across France, or even Europe. Tesla has just made pricing changes around the world over the last two days, including in North America and China. Tesla seems to need to boost its sales, even if it means having to lower its margins a little further.

The French configurator on the Tesla site was updated this Sunday, April 21 to display new prices for the Model 3, but the two high-end models – Model S and Model X – are also targeted by this reduction. Only the Model Y does not change the price, it must be said that the introduction of the long-range propulsion version had already changed the prices of this model.

The Model 3 from €39,990

Tesla is not only adapting its prices in France to make up for the absence of an ecological bonus on the Model 3 Propulsion. Last month, the brand offered a €4,000 discount to compensate for the bonus, it could have continued to do so, which was favorable to French customers.

This price reduction is applied throughout Europe and China. Production must not reach the levels expected by the brand, Tesla is therefore trying to restart the machine by playing on the price, as usual.

New price as of 04/21/2024Old priceDecrease observed
Model 3 Propulsion€39,990€42,990– €3,000
Model 3 Long Range€48,990€50,900– €2,000

With this new starting price, the Tesla Model 3 Propulsion is particularly attractive. The end of the ecological bonus on the Model 3 will no longer be an obstacle, since it naturally falls below the €40,000 mark, which is almost unbeatable for this category of electric cars. Competitors will grind their teeth again until Tesla raises its prices in a few months. It is becoming usual to see the prices of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y yo-yo to revitalize order intake.

The Tesla Model 3 Ludricrous should appear in the coming hours (or days) on the Tesla configurator. It will remain to be discovered at what price the brand will position this even sportier version of the Model 3. If the model follows the new prices of the rest of the range, it could make its debut at a particularly attractive price for sports enthusiasts. sensation.

€2,000 less for Model S and X

Tesla’s two most premium models are being overshadowed by the two most affordable models. However, we must not forget them. The large Model S sedan and the large Model X SUV are still very good alternatives in the electric car market.

Here are the prices applied to these models on April 21:

  • Model S Dual Motor: €92,990 (instead of €94,990)
  • Model S Plaid: €107,990
  • Model X Dual Motor: €99,990 (instead of €101,990)
  • Model X Plaid: €114,990

The Model Y: a range revised a few days ago

The price of the Model Y is not changing this April 21, but the model welcomed a new variation a few days earlier. This is probably why Tesla in Europe did not touch the price of this model, while in China and the United States prices were lowered on Model Y this weekend.

Surprisingly, Tesla even increased the price of its Model Y last March in Europe. Will this last?

Price as of April 17, 2024
Model Y Propulsion€44,990
Model Y Propulsion Long Range€46,990
Model Y Long Range€51,990
Model Y Performance€57,990
