Since the opening of Tesla Superchargers to all electric cars (regardless of their brand) in most stations in Europe, it is necessary to use the application to initiate a charge. Today, the American manufacturer is offering another way of doing things, which will simplify things a little.
If Tesla drivers really appreciate the charging experience on the brand’s Superchargers, it is in particular because of the ease of use. Simply plug in and charging will start. This is called Plug and Charge at Ionity and Autocharge at Fastned.
But this method is reserved for Teslas, while vehicles from other brands that wish to charge must use the Tesla application by having previously created an account to initiate a charge. Today, Tesla is adding the ability to start charging from its website, without needing to create an account.
An easier-to-launch Supercharge?
This summer, we saw that Tesla’s new V4 Superchargers included a payment terminal, so that those who don’t use the Tesla app can easily charge on site. However, for all Superchargers already in place, it is necessary to go through the application by having an account before being able to launch a charge.
Well aware of the additional barrier this adds, Tesla today changed its charging start process, so that it is possible from a website, without an account. Simply go to the Tesla Superchargers map and select the one that interests you.
By clicking on the button currently titled “Non-Tesla Charging”, details of the Supercharger appear, including the number of occupied terminals, a summary of prices, and the possibility of choosing which terminal you can charge at.
This allows people who rarely connect to Superchargers to do without the Tesla application. You will only have to complete your payment information, and an authorization of 25 euros will be carried out before being able to launch the charge.
Note that Ionity has been using this system for a long time, for example, since when we want to attract customers, it must be as simple as possible to pay for a charging session. Now, when will Tesla self-charging?
