Tesla has just revealed its production figures for 2023, which are much higher than expected.

The electric vehicle manufacturer has undoubtedly been the locomotive of its sector for many years. But recently, its sales seemed more fragile, particularly at the level of its Model S and Model X vehicles. Enough to fuel the idea that Elon Musk’s company should not have exploded sales in 2023. idea which has just been contradicted by the results published by Tesla.

Tesla posts record numbers

Let it be said, Tesla is in good shape! The manufacturer of electric vehicles has just communicated its results for the fourth quarter of 2023, as well as its annual report. And the least we can say is that business is going well.

Tesla thus produced around 495,000 vehicles in the last three months of 2023, and sold 484,000. Figures which allow us to know the results over the whole year for the Californian company. And it must be said simply, this is a new record for the brand!

It thus displays for the past year:

  • 1.85 million vehicles produced (i.e. growth of 35% over one year);
  • 1.81 million vehicles sold (an increase of 38% over one year).

The race with BYD continues

Suffice it to say that Tesla took many analysts by surprise, who did not think the firm was capable of so violently exceeding its 2022 figures (1.36 million vehicles produced). Proof of this was that in recent days, when BYD announced that it had assembled 1.6 million electric vehicles last year, most of them considered that the Chinese giant had become number 1 in the sector.

For Tesla, this new record is still just a milestone. We must in fact expect further very significant sales growth in the years to come, with the American giant having the very ambitious objective of reaching 20 million cars sold per year by 2030. The year Will 2024 be the one where Elon Musk’s firm finally crosses the threshold of 2 million vehicles produced in one year?
