Tesla prepares the return of a must-have feature with its Christmas update

After nearly a year of pestering, Tesla owners seem to have made Elon Musk’s firm listen to reason. Indeed, the next update marks the return of features that had been removed. Let’s do a check in.

If Teslas are generally prized for their on-board software, all is not all rosy. Indeed, updates do not necessarily rhyme with an addition of functionalities: sometimes, some disappear, to the chagrin of the owners. For the famous Christmas update of 2022, the manufacturer seems to have heard the complaints of the customers, since it is backtracking on certain points.

Fuel consumption and tire pressure maps are back

Before the end of 2021, it was possible in the blink of an eye to check the consumption of your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y, as well as the tire pressure. Small cards were visible at the bottom left of the screen, and by sliding from right to left the driver could display one or the other information.

Then comes the Christmas 2021 update, which completely overhauls the graphical interface, for better or for worse. Among the notable disappearances, you will have understood, are information relating to consumption and tire pressure. It is now necessary to navigate through the menus to find its consumption, which is anything but practical.

Consumption cards appear by swiping right

Many drivers have raised their dissatisfaction with the parent company for many months, to no avail. The hope of seeing the small consumption cards reappear was dwindling day by day, but it is clear that Tesla has taken this return into account, since they are again present with the 2022.44.25 update.

Some additional novelties

In addition to the return of these small consumption and tire pressure maps, we learn via the release notes shared by Tesla South Korea that the display of the media player will be changed. It will integrate the small cards, as you can see in the image above, and will therefore be much more compact.

The new navigation interface at Tesla

The navigation has also been revised, since its interface is modified. There is now a separation between lane change indications and upward directions, and trip summary downstairs (battery level and time of arrival).

Finally, the interior camera can now be viewed from the mobile app when sentry mode or dog mode is activated, and the turn signals will automatically be disabled when the vehicle detects that a lane change has been completed. Something to delight drivers before the year 2023.

Tesla: what to remember from the 2021 software updates?

Tesla vehicles are constantly being updated, for better and for worse. During 2021, an update was deployed approximately every two weeks. But are they all useful, or alone…
