Tesla recalls nearly half a million cars over security breaches

December 30 (Reuters) – Tesla has decided to recall more than 475,000 of its Model 3 and Model S electric cars in an attempt to remedy reversing camera and trunk issues that increase the risk of accidents, the regulator said of road safety in the United States.

The American electric vehicle manufacturer recalls 356,309 Model 3 2017-2020 vehicles for rearview camera problems and 119,009 Model S vehicles due to front cover problems.

“The unavailability of the rear view camera display can affect the driver’s visibility to the rear and increase the risk of a collision,” said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the federal agency responsible for the road safety.

Tesla is not aware of any accidents, injuries or death related to problems with its Model 3 and Model S cars, the NHTSA added.

Tesla’s share lost 1.4% at the start of Wall Street’s session. (Report Hyunjoo Jin San Francisco and Akash Sriram Bangalore, French version Augustin Turpin, said by Sophie Louet)
