Test: is there anything more versatile than this small Boruit V3 waterproof lamp?

I thought that with the introduction of flashlight modes on smartphones, the simple flashlight would in turn follow the path of the dinosaurs.

But in reality, using your smartphone, a device that costs hundreds of euros, as a flashlight is not very smart. Your smartphone is vulnerable to falls. And using the built-in torch is a quick way to drain the battery.

This is why I like to carry a keychain-sized flashlight with me. The ideal is to have an affordable, powerful, durable and waterproof lamp. And while I’m at it, so much the better if it has a UV LED to allow me, for example, to detect counterfeit banknotes :).

Turns out the Boruit V3 Mini Flashlight has all that and more!

Boruit V3 Keychain Flashlight Features

  • Powerful : with its 900 lumens, the beam can travel an impressive distance of 100 meters.

  • Lightweight and portable : small and easy to hold in the hand, pocket or attached to the backpack.

  • Dimensions : 56 x 31 x 15mm, 33g.

  • Glowing in the dark : it is thus easier to find in the dark.

  • Magnetic : a powerful magnet on the base allows it to be attached to metal surfaces such as car hoods.

  • Four LED colors : choose between white, red, blue and UV light.

  • 12 lighting modes : choose the power of the white LEDs according to your needs, between static and red flashing mode, and even an alternating red/blue flashing mode.

  • USB-C fast charging : the 500mAh battery offers between 75 minutes and 76 hours of autonomy (depending on mode) and only requires 2.5 hours to be recharged.

  • Water resistance IP65 : don’t let the rain spoil your fun.

So what do I like about this keychain flashlight?

First of all, it is very durable. I’ve had several keychain flashlights fail on me quickly. They crack, the buttons break or they simply die. Not this one.

I have also encountered sealing problems in the past. Many of these keychain flashlights claim to be water resistant, but in fact many are not.

Yup, this is waterproof!

This one is waterproof, so there is no need to worry about that. This is a durable keychain flashlight.

Another feature I like about this flashlight: it has two LEDs on the front. Not only does this allow it to be more powerful when you need light, but the two LEDs mean the light is better distributed. I previously used keychain flashlights that had a single LED, and found that they produced a rather concentrated light, which was often not what I wanted.

One might object that powering two LEDs is wasteful, but given that this flashlight offers between 75 minutes and 76 hours of battery life depending on the power mode chosen for the white LEDs, I don’t see it. problem.

In addition to white LEDs, there are red and blue lights. In addition to static operation, there is strobe mode. You can flash red and blue alternately if you really want to be seen.

The power of the UV LED is sufficient to check the validity of bank notes or to spot leaks in cooling or air conditioning systems that contain a UV tracer dye.

Two buttons control all lights and functions by a combination of presses and double presses. The manual does a good job of explaining what all these buttons do, and after a short learning period it will quickly become second nature.

And all this for €24, it’s really a good deal!

This is a great flashlight, small enough not to be forgotten at home, but large enough to provide useful power and long battery life. Without a doubt, it has earned its place in my keychain.
