TEST Princess Peach: Showtime!, no need for a mustache to defend yourself

Nintendo continues to offer Switch owners new, more or less eccentric and crazy experiences. A brand new title is born… Its name? Princess Peach: Showtime!. Once again, the heroine faces a new threat, but without being accompanied by her lifelong mustachioed friend, Mario. We have completed this new odyssey, so it is time to give you our impressions. A title that is enough to tantalize the pupils? Let’s talk about it.

On an OLED screen, it’s super cool.

Without surprise, the visual part is extremely colorful ; we remain in a purely “Mario” universe, let’s not forget that. Here, the beautiful crosses worlds representing plays. Thus, the sets are made of cardboard, and various wooden platforms are scattered here and there, showing off different platforms in the image. The light effects are well controlled and the camera is dynamic at certain moments to bring significant phases into close-up. The gestures are basic, a bit mechanical.

Question of the day: is the rendering more pleasant in mode Portable or in mode TV ? Well, the game looks cuter on the console’s small screen. Indeed, on a television, we noticed a slight aliasing, but not only. From time to time, when a cutscene is about to start or when several enemies (and effects) invite themselves to the party, small jerks appear ; nothing too bad, but still notable. As a nomad, Princess Peach: Showtime! is chewable, and all these little imperfections disappear; on an OLED screen, it’s super cool.

Let’s say that they stick with the theme of the universe, without insisting too much on the level of esgourdes. The eardrums mainly have fun with sound effects, onomatopoeia and other interjections; at the same time, we are also spectators of a play. At any rate, everything is harmonious to immerse us as it should be in this production.

Getting started with Princess Peach: Showtime! is super accessible and very easy to understand. Basically, the beauty can run (gently by lifting her dress), jump and use the powers of her new friend, Stella, a fun ribbon. During our escapades, we come across unique “Sparks” allowing us to transform ourselves.

Monotony is clearly not an invitation to the party.

There are a whole bunch of other powers, each just as crazy as the next., but we leave the pleasure of discovery to you. However, what is our opinion on all this? The idea is excellent. And for good reason, we are moving from an action game to a reflection title, moving on to a production based on rhythm. For once, yes, monotony is clearly not an invitation to the party.

Only small black spot on the board, this experience is really (too) easy. We are progressing in ultra-directist worlds where it is easy to assimilate the smallest thing into the image. During our wanderings, we can find secret places to obtain “Spark Coins”, essential to progress in the adventure, but overall the pattern is still the same. Thus, we must restore order in each representation before facing a big boss, subsequently giving access to a new floor.

Because yes, the “Peach” of the game is to save the Spark Theater from the claws of the formidable Syrah who removed the main actors. The scenario is not there to make an impression and is an excuse to bring a touch of originality to the hands. To get to the end of the tunnel, completing a few challenges to the right and left, it takes 6 hours. After what, it is possible to return there to complete some missionscollect outfits, complete a level 100%, etc.

In other words, if you like cute platform games, there is no doubt that this experience will entertain you as it should. Do you hear the three shots from the brigadier?
