TESTIMONY. “Because of a missed match, we got married on a plane!”

Pam and Jeremy had planned to unite their destinies in Las Vegas. But their flight was canceled. They finally exchanged their vows… 11 km above the ground. Close to seventh heaven.

Pam Patterson, 52, and Jeremy Salda, 49, met two years ago. Both divorced and parents of grown-up children, they got along like thieves from the first words exchanged. “You know, the kind of chemistry that keeps you talking about your life all night long,” Pam recalls. Jeremy is under the spell of the one who “loves to spread kindness around her like you do with confetti”. As for her, she is full of praise for the one who makes her “permanently feel unique”.

Since their paths crossed, the lovebirds never left each other. While vacationing in Cancun, Mexico in January 2021, Jeremy asks for the hand of his “Pam Pam Girl”. “I’ve been speechless twice in my life: when I met Tim McGraw [acteur et chanteur américain de musique country, NDLR]and that day”, confides Pam, stars in her eyes. Very quickly, they come to an agreement: they will celebrate their marriage in August 2022 in Cabo San Lucas, in this much loved Mexico.

They have planned everything… except chance, which will strike as soon as they arrive in Dallas

But as they need a legal marriage certificate for this in the United States, they decide to unite in Las Vegas on April 24, 2022. The lovers reserve the sworn officer, the chapel, a hotel and two plane tickets , with a stopover in Dallas. Pam is dressed in her wedding dress, Jeremy in a nice suit. They have everything planned. Everything… Except chance, which will strike as soon as they arrive in Dallas.

There, they learn, terrified, that their correspondence towards the “city of the sin” is cancelled. The couple, already in wedding attire, are desperate for another flight. A sworn officer, in the same situation as them, hears them and offers to marry them if they do not arrive in time for the planned ceremony. All three find a new flight to Vegas, departing from Dallas’ other airport, Love Field.

“It was like in a movie. I was running in a wedding dress through the airport”

They jump in an Uber to try to catch him. “It was like in a movie. I was running in a wedding dress through the airport, remembers Pam. People were applauding us.” As they board, the pilot asks them if they’re going to get married in Las Vegas, to which the bride-to-be jokingly replies, “We’ll try, but if not, it’ll be on that plane! The crew then said: “It’s so cute, if you want, we do it!”

Cabin crew decorate the cabin with toilet paper streamers, download a copy of The Wedding March and prepare the champagne. The officer met a few hours earlier then unites Pam and Jeremy in front of the jubilant passengers with, in the background, Marry You by Bruno Mars. What then does Pam entrust to Jeremy? “I told him I wanted to be his co-pilot for life!”
