When she had just given birth, a Briton named Claire Barnes Northcott discovered that her husband had been cheating on her for more than two years with their neighbor. A revelation that completely changed the course of his life.
This open forum in The Sun newspaper caused a huge reaction. Entitled “Can we really be blind to infidelity?”, the British newspaper gave the floor to a woman so that she could tell her story. Claire Barnes Northcott, is a community manager in an English company. This young mother wanted to tell the terrible deception of her former companion. “The day after our first child, Mickayley, was born, I found out my fiancé had been having an affair for over two yearsthat is to say from the very beginning of our relationship”, she began.
“It was completely unexpected news. I thought my relationship with Leury was wonderful. We were engaged, our wedding was planned a few months later, and I was planning to end my life with him. Leury was so romantic that I had no idea he was doing anything but adore me. We were living in a real fairy tale. But when I found out that he was cheating on me with our neighbor for so long, I couldn’t have been more shocked. I didn’t see it coming at all…”continued this 35-year-old woman.
“Now I have to rebuild myself as a single mother”
However, everything started like a dream for the young couple. “I met Leury in March 2017 when I was vacationing in the Dominican Republic for a friend’s wedding. He lives there and worked as a diving instructor, and we started dating. We stayed in contact on my return and fell in love. A year after we first met, he arranged a surprise romantic marriage proposal, with the help of two of my best friends. I said yes and we decided to move in together.”
“Just a few weeks after he put the ring on my finger, I found out that I was pregnant. We agreed that I would stay in the UK for the birth of the baby, to be close to my family, and then move to the Caribbean for our dream wedding and new life together. When I gave birth to our daughter Mickayley, Leury saw her right away on a video call and he was as in love with her as I was. He told me he loved me and he was so proud of me“.
But the next day, everything changed: “Except my perfect life was shattered. One of Leury’s neighbors in the Dominican Republic sent me a message on Facebook with pictures of her half-naked with Leury. She told me that she had slept with him for the duration of our relationship, but would not tell me before the baby was born. I annulled the marriage and am now single. Now I have to rebuild my life.” A very sad story…
