TF1 and M6 will pay 45 million euros for France TV’s share in Salto in the event of a merger


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The audiovisual groups TF1 and M6 announced on Thursday that they had signed an agreement committing them, in the event of their merger project, to buy out France Télévision’s 33.33% stake in the service. video on demand by Salto subscription for a value of 45 million euros.

Following the announcement, on May 17, 2021, of the proposed merger of the TF1 and M6 groups, France Télévisions had expressed its desire, in the event of the completion of the merger operation, to sell its stake in Salto, service launched in October 2020 and owned equally by France Télévisions, TF1 and M6.

The Competition Authority announced on March 18 that it had initiated an in-depth examination of the proposed merger between TF1 and M6. The final decision of the Competition Authority on this merger is still expected in the fall of 2022.

TF1 and M6 signed the agreements last July relating to a merger between the two groups, which then indicated that the operation should be finalized by the end of 2022 at the latest.
