Toulouse FC’s Danish defender, Mikkel Desler, was the target of burglars while he was playing in a Europa League match against Austrian club LASK on the Stadium pitch. Two watches from the luxury brand Rolex were stolen from the player’s home.

The home of Danish Toulouse Football Club (TFC) player Mikkel Desler was broken into on Thursday evening during the match against Linz ASK, we learned on Friday from reliable sources. “An investigation is underway for the burglary of a player during the match” TFC-LASK, the Toulouse prosecutor’s office told AFP, without specifying the identity of the victim.

20,000 euros in damage

A source close to TFC confirmed that it was indeed right-back Mikkel Desler, as indicated La Dépêche du Midi. Two watches from the luxury brand Rolex were stolen from the player’s home, in the center of Toulouse, “for damage of around 20,000 euros”, assured the prosecution.

Robbery of football players during matches occurs regularly. Among the victims, we include, for example, Karim Benzema, who was robbed at the beginning of 2022, while he was playing for Real Madrid, or Marseille defender Sead Kolasinac, last January.

Players from Olympique Lyonnais had also been the subject of several burglaries between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. Mikkel Desler was recruited by the Toulouse club in the summer of 2021 and was one of the actors in its victory at the Coupe de France 2023. During Thursday’s match against the Austrians of Linz, for the second day of Group E of the Europa League, TFC won 1-0.
