Thai King Rama X. (69) is a debatable personality: sometimes he wants to appoint his lover to be the second queen, sometimes he is said to have beaten his sister.
The Thai monarch is not only a seedy contemporary, but above all a filthy rich one. The Croesus King is said to have a fortune equivalent to 65 billion francs. The inheritance that Rama received from his father, King Bhumibol († 88), who died in 2016, amounts to just under eleven billion francs!
Three billion euros inheritance tax
The offspring bought Villa Stolberg in the municipality of Tutzing in Upper Bavaria in 2013 for 10 million euros. The splendid booth is his second home. Even at the time of his father’s death, Rama was often in the villa, as the «Focus» reports. Therefore, he has to pay taxes in Bavaria. Specifically: Second home tax and inheritance tax would be due.
But nothing came and nothing came, neither the second home tax nor the inheritance tax, as «Merkur» writes. The inheritance tax that Rama would have had to pay amounts to three billion euros – the equivalent of 3.25 billion francs. Money that is missing now.
Second home tax not paid either
If Rama had paid his inheritance taxes, that would have been massively noticeable in the Bavarian inheritance and gift tax revenue. But this was not the case, writes the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.
Second home taxes would be missing from 270,000 to 400,000 euros. This was noticed by the treasurer of a Tutzing citizens’ association. The reason: There was no coal in the community treasury.
As «Merkur» writes, it should come as no surprise to the community of Tutzing that the rich king is said to be a dodger. No: Tutzing knew very well that Rama did not pay his taxes – at least this is what citizens accuse the community of. Because of this, a complaint was even filed against the mayor of the village with the Munich public prosecutor’s office. The accusation: Instead of making steam for Rama on the tax matter, Rama is said to have treated the whole thing negligently.
King enjoys immunity
At the request of “Focus”, however, the public prosecutor said that there was no initial suspicion of a criminal offense. That means: It was not determined. Even the rich Rama himself had been reported. However: “As a foreign head of state, he enjoys immunity,” said the Munich Stawa. In other words: no investigation.
The only thing left out of this farce for the Free State of Bavaria is that they will not be allowed to demand any money from the Thai king. No inheritance tax in the billions. And there is no second home tax from Rama for the municipality of Tutzing. Reason: The Vienna Agreement on diplomatic relations provides that immunity is protected from enforcement, so the “Focus” continues.
The next Thai trouble is inevitable: According to the «Merkur», a second villa is being renovated for King Rama in addition to the already existing Protz hut in Tutzing. (nl)
