(CercleFinance.com) – Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%) announces that it has signed a telecommunications satellite manufacturing contract with KT SAT, South Korea’s main satellite communications operator Koreasat 6A.
Positioned at 116° East in geostationary orbit, this new satellite will replace the current Koreasat 6 and will provide fixed and broadcasting satellite services to South Korea. Deliverable in the fourth quarter of 2024, it is designed for a lifespan of 15 years.
Thales Alenia Space is responsible for designing, manufacturing, testing and delivering the satellite to the ground, then carrying out the positioning and testing in orbit. In addition, it will provide training and support for the customer’s engineers, as well as operational assistance during the life of the satellite.
