(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announced on Monday that it would supply more than 6,000 software-defined radio systems to the Irish Defense Forces after winning a tender.

The contract, concluded after five months of field testing, covers an initial supply of more than 3,500 SquadNet tactical radio systems and approximately 2,500 Synaps range radios.

The compact SquadNet radio system, which offers 24 hours of battery life, provides secure voice communications, location display and a data sharing option.

The agreement also covers the supply of Synaps portable radios for land forces, vehicular radios for Army vehicles and naval forces ships and aeronautical radios for various Air Corps aircraft.

In addition to the radio equipment, the contract also includes the provision of digital services to ensure the maintenance of all the equipment delivered.

The first deliveries will begin in the second quarter of 2024.
