(CercleFinance.com) – Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, announces that it is leading an initiative in Luxembourg aimed at validating a concept of a digital twin for flood prediction, a project financed by Luxembourg via a contract from the European Space Agency .
The Thales Alenia Space Digital Center of Excellence in Luxembourg and its partners intend to demonstrate the advantages of a digital twin of the Earth to better predict and estimate the impact of flooding, and take the necessary preventive measures.
Digital twins are being developed to enable a wide variety of users to study the effects of climate change on different components of the Earth system, and to evaluate possible adaptation and mitigation strategies.
