(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announces the successful launch of the European scientific satellite Euclid. Thales Alenia Space is the prime contractor for the satellite.
The European Space Agency (ESA) Euclid mission will study dark energy and dark matter to better understand the origin of the accelerated expansion of the Universe.
Euclid mobilizes several national space agencies, including the French (CNES), Italian (ASI) and British (UKSA) agencies. It was launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
‘ During its six-year mission, the Euclid satellite will map the cosmic web of the Universe more than 10 billion light-years away. It will reveal the story of its expansion and the growth of its structure over the last three quarters of its history.
