Thales: ‘green’ partnership with SMRT Trains in Singapore

(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announces the establishment of a partnership with SMRT Trains (Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit) around next-generation signaling technologies for greener rail transport in Singapore.

The two partners, who are both aiming for ‘zero emissions’ by 2050, are joining forces through the initiative “The Next-Generation Green CBTC Project”, which aims to reduce electricity consumption and achieve energy efficiency gains in train traction on the nation’s oldest rail networks: the North-South and East-West (NSEW) lines.

Green CBTC algorithms allow automatic driverless trains that follow optimized speed curves to save energy, without sacrificing punctuality.

The partnership between Thales and SMRT for the development of the next generation green CBTC aims to evaluate the functionalities of improvement in environmental performance through data analysis.
