(CercleFinance.com) – On the occasion of the Eurosatory 2024 exhibition, Thales announces that the French SIMu (Interarmy Munitions Service) has signed an order for several tens of thousands of 120mm munitions, complementing the order for 15,000 munitions signed in 2023 .
This new contract includes one third of exercise ammunition and two thirds of explosive ammunition, in order to equip the towed 120mm rifled mortars and, ultimately, the MEPAC system integrated into the chain of automation of firing and connections of the Ground-to-ground artillery (ATLAS).
This contract will lead Thales to considerably increase the production rate at its Ferté Saint Aubin site (Loiret), which will go from an overall annual production of 20,000 munitions in 2023 to more than 80,000 per year by 2026.
