(CercleFinance.com) – Thales – SESO Optics announces that it has won a contract with the Advanced Materials Laboratory (LMA), affiliated to the CNRS, for the polishing of the most critical optical elements of the European Advanced Virgo + project.
‘Advanced Virgo+ is the latest evolution of the Virgo interferometer (located near Pisa in Italy), which aims to detect the gravitational waves that Albert Einstein predicted 105 years ago’, specifies the manufacturer of high optics precision.
The future modernized version of the Virgo interferometer will allow astronomers to observe a 10 times higher number of hyper violent cosmic events, as well as lower power events.
