Thales: Thales confirms being targeted by a group of hackers, internal investigation


PARIS (Reuters) – The French electronics group Thales confirmed in a press release on Tuesday the opening of an internal investigation into an allegation of data theft by the Russian-speaking group of hackers LockBit 3.0.

“The extortion and ransomware group LockBit 3.0 has announced that it wants to publish the data on November 7, 2022 at 06:29 UTC,” the group said in a press release, confirming information from franceinfo.

“We have become aware of an allegation of data theft by LockBit 3.0 targeting data that would belong to the Thales group”, can we read.

Thales indicates that as of this date, “no ransom signal” has been identified.

“However, we carefully monitor each allegation related to data theft. A dedicated team of security experts systematically investigates this type of situation, data security being our priority”, he adds.

According to franceinfo, LockBit 3.0, which claimed responsibility for a computer attack in August against the Corbeil-Essonnes hospital center (Essonne), reported on the darknet of an action targeting Thales, threatening to publish “very sensitive” documents.
