Thales: will equip the rail network of the Netherlands

(CercleFinance.com) – Thales announces that it has been chosen by ProTail, the Dutch public body responsible for managing rail infrastructure, to implement its central safety system ERTMS – the European standard for safety and train control – in the Dutch railway network.

Ultimately, this system should make it possible to obtain ‘a much safer and more sustainable rail network for the Netherlands’, assures Thales.

In the Netherlands, ProRail manages 7,000 km of track, the construction and management of stations and the management of rail traffic, representing 1.4 million journeys per day.

The contract, with a maximum duration of 37 years, is worth 420 million euros, a significant part of which is dedicated to innovation.
