“Major Tom” is taking off again in the charts thanks to King Football. Meanwhile, when it comes to albums, Alligatoah hits hard.

It’s been around 42 years since Peter Schilling (68) and his “Major Tom” stormed to number one in the charts completely independently. The loud debate about whether the Neue Deutsche Welle’s parade song should be used as the goal anthem The national soccer team is allowed to serve at the upcoming home European Championships, has now ensured a comeback: In the official German charts, determined by GfK Entertainment, the song is at number 37 among singles.

It is quite possible that “Major Tom” will climb even higher with his spaceship in the coming weeks and especially during the European Championships, which take place from June 14th to July 14th. At number one in the single charts for the fifth time in a row is Benson Boone (21) with “Beautiful Things”, closely followed by 01099, Gustav & Zachi in second place with “Küssen”, the top three is completed by rapper Kontra K (36 ) with “Love is a thief”.

When it comes to albums, Alligatoah snaps again

In the album charts there are chronic repeat offenders in the first three positions. Alligatoah (34) secured his place in the sun with his record “Off”. It is the third time that the rapper from Lower Saxony has taken first place – he previously achieved this with “Triebwerke” and “Sleeping Tablets, Red Wine Part V”. He also received international support for “Off”: Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst (53) is on the track “So Raus”.

Second place goes to EDM and techno veterans Scooter. The trio had previously celebrated two more milestones: Scooter recently celebrated their 30th band anniversary, and frontman HP Baxxter has been on earth twice as long – he turned 60 on March 16th.

The men behind them still have a few more years as a band under their belt. With the new edition of their long player “Geräusch”, which was first released in 2003, the band Die Ärzte, founded in 1988, greets you from third place.
