“Thank you for not confusing fiction and reality”: this Furiosa actor does not want people to equate him with his character

Sometimes, between fiction and reality, there is only one step, and sometimes, this is absolutely not the case. This actor from the “Mad Max” saga reminds fans: he has nothing to do with his character in the films!

Between fiction and reality, some people clearly cannot find their way. Actor Nathan Jones, who plays the terrible Rictus in George Miller’s Mad Max saga, from Fury Road to Furiosa, had to remind people that his character was fictional after receiving private messages from angry fans.

This is how the actor spoke via Facebook to remind people that he was only playing a role. In his message, we can read:

Hello everyone,

I noticed a few questions and private messages regarding my role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, particularly regarding a scene with young Furiosa. This is a very sensitive subject and I would like to point out that this is a fictional character. The details can be uncomfortable, and as an actor, my job is to embody a character based on the direction and script I’ve been given. I appreciate your understanding and support in recognizing the distinction between fiction and reality. THANKS.

Sincerely, Nathan.

As a reminder, Rictus Erectus is the youngest son of Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) who we discovered in Mad Max: Fury Road, faithful servant of his terrible father. The character is back in Furiosa : obviously, we find him younger this time with, in addition, an unhealthy obsession for the heroine played by Anya Taylor-Joy, hence the messages of hatred that Nathan Jones has received.

You would have understood it, Nathan Jones is not Rictus and Rictus is not Nathan Jones. The actor therefore calls on fans not to confuse fiction and reality, no matter how well the role is played.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is still showing in your nearest cinema.
