Thanks to his AirTag, he finds his stolen car in just an hour and saves €8,000 in insurance

Paul Conway, a 46-year-old English worker, is certainly very happy today that his wife gave him an extra AirTag. This allowed him to find his stolen car in the snap of his fingers, without him having to pay any insurance.

Since their launch, AirTags have made it possible to find many lost devices between two people spied on by a stalker. The tracker is particularly useful for tracing stolen devices, whether it is a truck or a simple bicycle. In addition, it is obviously very advisable to place an AirTag in your vehicle of choice. Paul Conway is now firmly convinced of this.

It was in 2022 that Paul, a 46-year-old scaffolder in Leeds, Great Britain, received his AirTag. Or rather, his AirTag, since his wife decides to spoil him for Christmas with a set of 4. “I decided to place one inside the body of the [ma voiture]. I figured I’d use it if I parked somewhere and forgot where, but I never thought it would get stolen,” he explains.

An extra AirTag allowed him to find his stolen car

However, that is exactly what happened. On March 4, Paul lent his Nissan Pathfinder to one of his employees. He forgets to remove the keys from the ignition when he is away from the vehicle. The inevitable happened. “I started shaking, I couldn’t believe it, because this car is my pride and joy”, remembers Paul. He then remembers that his SUV is equipped with an AirTag. He opens the app and decides to follow the thief.

After contacting the police, he finally found his vehicle “hidden on a quiet residential street”. A huge relief for the worker. Since the keys were in the ignition, he would not have been able to claim insurance, which would instead have cost him 7,000 pounds sterling, or a little more than 8,000 euros. Since this story, Paul Conway has been extolling the merits of the AirTag to anyone who will listen. He also assures that a British company now offers an AirTag to all its employees following this story.
