Thanks to this novelty, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 would gain better autonomy

According to information from the “Sam Mobile” site, Samsung has planned a new chip for its Galaxy Watch 6, better optimized for autonomy.

Like every year, Samsung should present, during the summer, its new generation of connected watches with the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Pro – or Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

If previous rumors hinted at a lot of information about the design, screens or autonomy of these new watches, we are now learning more about the processor that could be embedded in the Korean manufacturer’s exciting news.

According to website information Sam-Mobile, specializing in Samsung news, the Galaxy Watch 6 would indeed inaugurate a new chip for connected watches, the Exynos W980. This chip would thus take the place of the Exynos W920 processor used by Samsung on the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, but also on the previous generation of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. According to information from the Dutch site, this change in processor should allow the new generation of connected watches to gain 10% in performance compared to previous generations.

A potentially less energy-consuming chip

Another expected advantage of this Exynos W980, its fine engraving. It would indeed seem that it uses the new process of engraving in 5 nm. If the fineness is identical to the previous generation, the process would however have been improved in order to gain in particular in energy efficiency and therefore in autonomy.

Sam-Mobile also corroborates the information already shared by the Chinese leaker Ice Universe indicating that the Galaxy Watch 6 will benefit from a larger screen for an identical case format. He thus suggests that the manufacturer would have succeeded in reducing the thickness of the borders of its watches.

We should know more about the new Galaxy Watch 6 during their official presentation, expected during the summer, probably during the first half of August. It is traditionally during this period, at the same time as the brand’s folding smartphones, that Samsung unveils its new connected watches.
