If, at 37, Amir is now successful, it was less the case 15 years ago when, in the grip of doubt, he almost stopped playing music.
In 2013, France first discovered Amir’s face and voice in The Voice on TF1. In Jenifer’s team at the time, the Israeli-born singer reached the final, but lost to Kendji Girac. A defeat from which was born his success with a first album quickly and a sixth place at Eurovision three years later. Today, Amir is savoring every day. But don’t take anything for granted. A few years ago, he never imagined being there, and even almost gave up all at once.
Before embarking on music in France, Amir tried the adventure The New Star in Israel. He made it to the final and started to build a little notoriety. But before that he had known a painful failure during a public performance, who had almost completed his determination to make a career in this environment. “I was not given a second chance”
That night, the year he turned 22, he was to sing A nice story by Michel Fugain when he had a terrible memory loss. Impossible to find the thread of the words. “I decided to collapse on stage, I asked to stop the performance. Obviously I was not given a second chance”, he explained to Nikos Aliagas. In his head, it was the commotion of the fight: “I thought to myself, maybe it’s not my thing to be a singer.” Fortunately, with the support of his relatives, he hung on and has four albums to his credit.
