Coin of the month: Polygon (MATIC) – Ethereum’s Internet of Blockchains

Ethereum is booming – still. Because the pioneer among smart contract platforms has a problem: Due to its leading role in the field of decentralized finance (DeFi), the network is constantly operating at its capacity limit. The result: Horrific fees or long waiting times for those who do not want to pay exorbitant prices in order to have their transaction confirmed quickly. With an average of 15 transactions per second (TPS), Ethereum is 3-5 times faster than Bitcoin. But this value is by far not enough for the self-imposed goal of becoming a kind of decentralized world computer.

In the Coin of the Month June, Christopher Klee explains why Polygon (MATIC) offers a way out and why the network is currently enjoying great success.

Blockchain as a driving force: How DLT is changing mobility

The way humanity moves is constantly changing. Driven by advancing digitization and the fight against climate change, developers all over the world are trying to establish systems that could make the mobility sector safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly. Blockchain technology is increasingly being considered for this. Because their promise of security, transparency, speed and data protection sounds like a tailor-made solution for the modern problems of our time.

Daniel Hoppmann is dedicated to this topic in a special format, asked the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and companies how the blockchain will change the mobility of the future.

Bitcoin Column: How Schnorr Signatures Make Bitcoin More Private

It can take a while for Bitcoin to implement new software updates. Taproot was mentioned for the first time in 2018, when Bitcoin Core Developer Gregory Maxwell outlined the possible update, which, among other things, should implement a new signature algorithm. Three years have passed since then and Taproot is still a dream of the future. But that could change soon. Because with Bitcoins Difficulty Epoch 338 the so-called “Speedy Trial” was implemented, which is considered the first step towards a regulated implementation of Taproot.

With the upcoming Taproot update, the Schnorr signatures will also be implemented in Bitcoin’s source code. The aim is to make the network more efficient and transactions more private. What you need to know about the long-awaited soft fork is clarified by David Scheider in his Bitcoin column.

Tokenized Stocks – This is how everyone becomes a 2.0 shareholder

Imagine having a Sunday coffee with your in-laws and trading your favorite stocks as a distraction, even though the stock exchanges are closed. At the same time, you could acquire only 3 percent of an Amazon share, which would otherwise cost around 2,000 euros, for 60 euros. And if you are short of cash, you can also buy supermarket purchases with a fraction of a Tesla share. This and much more is already possible today. The reason for this are the so-called tokenized stocks – also known as stock tokens.

In the cover story of the new edition of the Kryptokompass, BTC-ECHO editor-in-chief Sven Wagenknecht explains what tokenized stocks are really about, what opportunities they offer investors and where this market could develop.
