Kevin Costner is no stranger to the Western genre. He played the lead role in the cult film “Dances with Wolves” and even directed the drama “Open Range – Weites Land”. With the successful series “Yellowstone”, Costner has also recently earned a permanent place in the Wild West. But to the regret of all fans, he will no longer be seen in the final part of season 5.

The reason for this is a project close to the heart of the Hollywood legend. With “Horizon: An American Saga” he preferred to make his own western and had to leave “Yellowstone” for that. Costner and Western fans can rejoice because the first trailer for the film has now been released.

It’s not without reason that the title of the film sounds so epochal. Costner has a lot planned and tells the story of the settlement of the American West. I want to do this in a comprehensive length over several years and as unvarnished as possible. Of course, a story like this takes a lot of films. That’s why two chapters have already been shot and two more are planned to follow. “Horizon: An American Saga” is the first part.

The trailer also underlines the epic story, which covers a period of 15 years. The focus is on a settler family that has to defend itself against attacks by Native Americans and outlaws. Of course, Costner himself also takes on an important role as a righteous gunslinger.

In addition to Costner, other stars also appear in “Horizon: An American Saga.” These include Sienna Miller (“Extrapolations”), Sam Worthington (“Avatar” series), Jamie Campbell Bower (“Stranger Things”) and Isabelle Fuhrman (“The Hunger Games”).

“Horizon: An American Saga” will be released in German cinemas on August 22, 2024. Part two will follow a few months later on November 7, 2024. If the first two films are a financial success, nothing stands in the way of a third and fourth film. Even though he is unfortunately no longer part of “Yellowstone”, you will still be able to experience Kevin Costner in the Wild West in the future.
