Low profiles
They smile, they pose, they kiss, but it’s not quite as usual. On Friday 25 February, the day after the invasion launched by the Russian army in Ukraine, the 47and Caesars ceremony was forced to keep a low profile and curb its enthusiasm. Apart from a pair of buttocks curiously exposed on stage by a “comedian” probably little aware of international news, she even did in the most total austerity, as evidenced by this black screen at the end of the ceremony.
Sculptural silhouette
In this painting of great sobriety, four Caesars appear prominently. If you like useless data, know that each statuette, totally hollow, weighs 3.5 kilos and requires fifteen hours of work for the craftsmen of the Bocquel art foundry, in Normandy, in charge of their realization since the second ceremony in 1977. Indeed, the statuettes representing a male silhouette rolled up in a reel of film designed by César for the inaugural edition, in 1976, fizzled out…
Precious satin
Let’s take advantage of this rare concentration of tuxedos, to remember that if the jackets have lapels adorned with satin (those of Cate Blanchett are particularly imposing), it is not by chance. Historically, this finish even had a very concrete and practical purpose: in the event of a smoking accident, it allows the ash to slide on the jacket without burning the fabric.
Ingenious velvet
Valérie Lemercier had the good idea to choose a dress cut in a palatine velvet with the particularity of not soaking up the smell of smoke. Since she does things well, the winner of the César for best actress for her performance in Aline, inspired by the life of Celine Dion, also had the good idea to position herself in this photo so as to hide the view of the man in skinny jeans located just behind her, in the background. pencil mustache
The mustache of Ron Mael, founder of The Sparks group with his brother, Russell, rewarded for his work on the film Annette, by Leos Carax, also stood out. The composer has long had a Hitler mustache which he ends up shaving for more restraint. Let’s admit it, this pencil mustache is not much more discreet, but it is much less provocative.
