The 20H answers you: do the questions come from real viewers? Garance Pardigon says it all

Since March 2020, the section Le 20 H vous replies has been helping viewers of TF1’s JT. After having essentially evoked the Covid-19 for a long time, Garance Pardigon has widened the scope of her investigations.

You’re on the air every night, except in the event of strong news, like September 8 when Elizabeth II died. In this case, what do you do with the questions and answers that you have prepared?

GARANCE PARDIGON: It happened several times. The work is not wasted, I use it the next day or later, because the questions are related to the news, but not to hot news.

Precisely, how do you select the questions of the viewers?

They are in tune with the times. We had a lot of questions about taxes or the abolition of the royalty. What stands out a lot at the moment is the reform of unemployment insurance or the measures in favor of purchasing power. On Fridays, I watch what arrives on the mailbox or the ideas that reach us via the QR Code broadcast on the air. On social networks, people also challenge me.

Do you confirm that these are real questions asked by real viewers?

Yes of course ! Between the antenna, the TF1 Info site and social networks, there is plenty to do. We had tried questions by video, but it quickly ran out of steam, because people don’t necessarily want to expose themselves.

Does the complicity with Gilles Bouleau contribute to the success of the column, in your opinion?

We make a lot of jokes live. It was he who fought for this section to stay on the air and for me to join his team full-time. It’s a chance to be able to work with a pro like him every day.

After studying at Paris-Dauphine then at the ESJ (higher school of journalism) in Lille, you completed an internship at TF1 before joining the Metz office to work on the 1 p.m. from TF1. How was Jean-Pierre Pernaut?

I mainly approached him when I returned to Paris in the economics department, where I was in charge of consumption. It was he who encouraged me to do on-set interventions. He was infinitely kind.

What’s the next step for you? Become a joker on a newscast?

It’s the top level, there! Currently, what drives me is to develop this section. On TikTok, I do real journalistic work. It’s crazy but informative. And there, I attack Snapchat.

So you don’t want to present a news?

I did it one weekend this summer, on LCI. I would be happy to go back there during the holidays, for example, so that it does not affect The 8 p.m. answers you!
