8-year-old Mia has just been found alongside her mother in a squat in the town of Sainte-Croix, Switzerland. According to BMFTV, the investigations were carried out by the Swiss federal police and the cantonal police of Vaud, acting under the authority of the Friborg prosecution, at the request of the Nancy prosecution.
The little girl had been kidnapped last April 13 while she was staying with her maternal grandmother near Epinal, in the Vosges department. Three men had shown up at Mia’s grandmother’s home posing as child welfare officials. They then pretended to have an appointment in an educational service with the mother of the child, Lola Montemaggi, 28, who has not been allowed to see her daughter since January. She is accused of having ordered Mia’s kidnapping along with the three men in question. The kidnapping took place without violence. To put the child’s grandmother in confidence, the three men presented letterhead from the Department of Justice. She had only seen fire at first.
Arrested on the night of Wednesday to Thursday in Paris, the suspects were taken into police custody and indeed confirmed that the little girl’s mother was behind the kidnapping.
For nearly a week, 200 gendarmes have been mobilized as part of this investigation. Two of them lent a hand to their Swiss colleagues to find the child. As for the mother of the little girl, she was arrested this Sunday, April 18 by investigators.
